Initial Site Assessments & Preliminary Site Investigations

Client: Indiana Department of Transportation

On a contract for INDOT our staff completed several Initial Site Assessments and Preliminary Site Investigations for petroleum contamination at INDOT project sites. 33 sites were evaluated for Phase I and 12 site investigations completed.

For the preparation of the Environmental Impact Statement completed Phase I Assessment for the Corridor from I-465 to Martinsville, IN. Identified sites with potential to have solid and hazardous wastes impacts within the Right-of way of the new highway.

Lead-Based Paint Surveys

Client: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, Kentucky

staff conducted lead-based paint surveys for 19 buildings at former Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana, including sampling, analysis and cost estimation.

• Performed Lead Assessment for all buildings
• Prepared Design Drawings and Specifications for abatement of lead-based paint in accordance with historical preservation requirements pursuant to local, state and federal regulations
• Monitored lead-based paint abatement
• Designed repair and restoration of buildings after removal of lead-based paint
• All work completed on schedule and budget

Asbestos Assessment Studies

Our staff conducted inspection and asbestos assessment of over 100 buildings at Grissom Air Reserve Base. Over 1.5 million square feet of building areas were assessed in accordance with AHERA requirements. Asbestos services conducted included developing a Sampling Plan and designing a customized software for asbestos data management.

Brownfields

A brownfield is a property where redevelopment is complicated due to actual or potential environmental contamination. Brownfield is:

• a parcel of real estate that is abandoned or inactive; or may not be operated at its appropriate use;
• and on which expansion, redevelopment, or reuse is complicated;
• because of the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, a contaminant, petroleum, or a petroleum product that poses a risk to human health and the environment.

Preliminary Assessments, Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations and Feasibility Study

Our staff completed environmental services at three (3) former Schilling Atlas Missile Site in Kansas. The sites consisted of missile silos and support systems which were completed in the early 1960's.

• Developed Sampling and Analysis Plans/Site Safety and Health Plans
• Site Investigations with Soil-Gas and Surface Geophysical Surveys
• Soil & Groundwater Investigations, including shallow & deep monitoring well installations (Rotosonic drill), development and sampling (low flow)
• Contaminant Plume Delineation and Source Identification
• Remedial Design for the removal of VOCs
• Prepared related reports for USEPA and Kansas Department of Health
